Never Thirst Again
“Whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.” John 4:14
You may have heard it said before by another that he or she is thirsty but not meaning that their mouth is dry and they need a drink. To thirst also means having a desire, craving or longing for something. There are many things that a person could thirst for beyond a drink such as alcohol, drugs, sex, pornography, love, and money to name a few. Such thirsts can cause many troubles in a person’s life such as strained relationships, physical health problems, mental health problems, decreased life satisfaction, decreased pleasure, and increased burden.
When Jesus met the woman at the well, He knew she was thirsting for more than physical water because He said to her, “Whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.” Jesus knew that this woman was missing something on the inside that was causing her to have trouble in her life. When Jesus told her that she would never thirst again, He was telling her that every desire, craving or longing she had would be satisfied from deep within her and she would never want for it again. Jesus was promising to deliver her from her sin so she could spend her life living instead of desiring, craving and longing for things that He knew would never be satisfied.
It doesn’t matter what you thirst for, Jesus will take away every desire that kills, steals and destroys your joy, peace and happiness and He will replace it with good desires that build up and enrich your life. Jesus can set you free from it all so that you never want for it again. Every desire, craving and longing that you can never satisfy or think you will never be able to overcome, Jesus can. Every trouble, burden and problem related to it, Jesus. Jesus is the way and it costs you nothing.
This weekend, go to church and save your soul. Come to know the gift of God and Jesus. Drink of the living water of life and be set free from your sins so you can live! You deserve a life filled and overflowing with joy, peace, and happiness and Jesus is the One who is happy to give that to you. Drink and for once be happy!
If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.” John 4:10
