Batter Up!

Batter Up!!
In baseball, a batter is often praised by fans and said to have a good eye when he or she chooses not to swing at a ball thrown outside the strike zone. It is good that the batter has watched the ball and used knowledge and experience to discern where that ball is headed to know whether or not to swing. The batter has to do this for every ball that is being pitched. If the batter stands at the plate and does not keep a good eye on each pitch they could strike out.
Every day God expects us to step up to the plate with good eyes that are ready to watch everything that is being thrown at us. We have to use our knowledge of the word and our experience to discern whether or not what is being thrown at us falls within God’s strike zone. If we choose to not follow God’s law and commands found in his word then there’s a high chance we may swing at a bad pitch and strike out. We could swing hard and level and still miss because we did not keep watch or keep a good eye on the pitch. The world and people around you are constantly throwing pitches, good and bad, and they want you to swing and they may not care if you strike out.
Do yourself a favor and seek God and his word first on whether or not you should swing at what’s being thrown at you. God wants his people to hit out of the park home runs not strike out. So when you stand up at the plate today, only swing at righteous pitches and seek praise from God for your good eyes!
“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
Matthew 6:33
