The Old Way

There’s so many people walking through life unhappy, tired, and overwhelmed. Living for the weekends and working to retire so we can simply rest. It’s like we are always looking to the end so we can simply rest. Life can feel like a heavy burden.
I am certain God did not intended for us to live this way. Is it possible that we have conformed so much to the patterns of this world that we have completely lost sight of the old paths, the trusted tried and true way? Is this the cause of so much of our unhappiness and unrest in homes? In our community? In our country?
I just wonder how much different life would look like and how much different life would feel if more people asked God to show them the good and right way instead of continuing on their current path because that’s what they think is right, because that’s what they’ve been taught is right or because that’s what they’ve been shown is right. I just wonder how much God would have us throw off. I’m sure it would be difficult but I can imagine the rest and the peace would be greater.
Jesus invites us to come to him so we can find rest for our souls. Maybe the next time we talk to Jesus we can simply ask him to light up the old, ancient path so we know the right way to go.
Life is too short to be overwhelmed and exhausted all the time. Make rest and peace a priority while you’re living. Don’t save it for the grave.
““Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”
Matthew 11:28-29
