Day 5: The Best Bread

I am the bread of life. Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died.  This is the bread that comes down from heaven, so that one may eat of it and not die.  I am the living bread that came down from heaven.  If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever.  And the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.  John 6:48

In our culture today, low-carb and keto diets have given bread a bad reputation.  To many, bread is considered to be “bad” food that should be avoided and to others it is a staple in their diet.  It varies so much from person to person and there is no shortage of opinions in the health and nutrition industry on this matter.  So if you eat bread or not and how much bread you choose to eat is your decision.  God created food including bread for our enjoyment and to nourish our bodies while we are here on earth.  However, our bodies like food have an expiration date.  So with that in mind, God gave us a different kind of food for our souls so that we could live forever with him in heaven.

That food is the bread of life and his name is Jesus.  God sent his son down from heaven to give life to our souls and teach us how to live in relationship with him while we are here on earth for the sole purpose to prepare us for living with him in heaven.  The truth is that when you believe in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus and accept him as your Lord and Savior your last breath on earth is your first breath in heaven.  The words Jesus spoke were a gift from heaven to nourish your soul and fill you up with love and hope while you are here on earth.  When you eat a consistent diet of God’s word, your soul will be satisfied in such a way that all the things you worry about today will fade away.  The truth is that God is more concerned about the health of your soul and you knowing his son Jesus than he is about your diet and whether or not you eat bread.  Jesus will help you balance not only your diet but every other area in your life when you come to him and that is why he tells you not to worry about those things.  God wants us to eat a high carb diet of his daily bread that is only found in his word and his word alone.  The bread of life is not bad, it is only very good! So go get a bible and start consuming your daily bread today.  You are worthy and deserve a healthy soul and eternity in heaven!
